The
Port Of Port Orford
Discover the Port,
one of only six "dolly
docks" in the world. Boats park on the dock and are hoisted over the
side and then lifted out. You've got to see for yourself. Day and short time
rates
available.
You can buy fresh fish, even do some
fishing off the dock, jetty or sport ramp. It's a fun place to just hangout
and watch the seagulls.
The Port with no bar to cross. This is
a working dock with several dozen commercial fishing vessels in residence.
It's also a sportsman's dream, with parking on the dock, fillet tables
and friendly staff to help you enjoy your visit.
The "Crown Jewels" of
local history!
The
Barracks of the old Coast Guard
Lifeboat Station on Coast Guard
Hill is actually part of the state
park system and offers a beautiful
park setting.
The
Hughes House and the Lighthouse
at Cape Blanco state park are pristine
reminders of our history. The Cape
is the most westerly portion of
the contigious USA. Don't miss
it!
No trip
to the South Coast of Oregon is complete
without
a visit to the "Crown Jewels" of
local history. The Cape Blanco Lighthouse
is the oldest continually operating
lighthouse on the coast of Oregon and
the 105 year old home of Patrick Hughes
is still in beautiful condition. Both
are at Cape Blanco state park. The
old Coast Guard Lifeboat Station is
on Coast Guard Hill and offers a rarely
seen glimpse into the lives of the
men stationed there and the harrowing
rescues they made. History comes alive
in Port Orford!
